We are an inside building speciality company for repairing storm and sanitary sewer drain pipes that are behind walls and under floors inside of buildings.
Inside of older buildings the sewer drain pipes are typically cast iron and much of the cast iron that we encounter is heavily corroded, cracked and brittle.
Revive Pipe’s truly trenchless drain repair service offers several distinct advantages over pipe replacement:
- COST EFFECTIVE compared to replacement when walls and floors have to be cut open & replaced
- MINIMAL disruption to building tenants and occupants
- REDUCED contractor time on site
- LESS invasive to your building. Most often, no access pits or demolition is required
- NO drywall and concrete dust spread throughout your facility
- PERMANENT solution
- IMPROVED flow
Revive Pipes employs advanced tools and techniques to remove the corrosion buildup from the clogged, damaged and cracked cast iron drains.
Our specialized tools and techniques are able to thoroughly clean and descale corroded and fragile, old cast iron pipe while also being gentle enough to avoid further damaging the fragile pipe.
Revive Pipes installs cured in place pipe (CIPP) structural liners inside of existing sewer pipes mostly without excavations because we use existing access points in plumbing drain systems such as clean outs, toilet closet flanges, backflow prevention valves and roof vents.
Types of problems that Revive Pipes fixes with sewer pipes inside of buildings are:
- Cracked Cast Iron
- Clay
- ABS or PVC
Types of sewer drain pipes that we line inside of buildings:
- Vertical Stacks

UNDER SLAB
Sewer pipes under concrete slabs can crack due to external ground forces, drain cleaning, snaking or auger operations. Cast iron drain pipes can experience sulfide stress cracking due to harmful gases generated in the sewer pipe.
Cracks under concrete slabs can allow nasty smelling sewer gases to escape into a building. Cracked pipes can also be the first warning sign of an impending collapse in your under slab sewer drain system.
If there is a crack in your sewer drain pipe, have Revive Pipes install a Cured in Place Pipe (CIPP) structural liner to permanently seal the crack and restore the structural integrity of your sewer drain system.
DIP, SLUMP OR BELLY IN THE SEWER PIPE
Shifting sewer pipes under slab can create a dip, slump or belly in your sewer pipe, which is effectively a localised low point in the system. Gravity drainage sewers are designed to be continually downward sloping along the entire length of the sewer pipe. A dip in the sewer pipe means that there is a section of the sewer pipe that runs flat and then is upward sloping before levelling off and starting to slope back downwards. This low section in the pipe will allow solids and debris flowing through the sewer to slow down and stop.
Dips, slumps or bellies in sewer pipes are common causes of sewer backups. If a dip in the pipe is small enough, Revive Pipes can install a structural liner that will improve the flow through that section, however the only real solution to slumps in sewer pipes is an open cut excavation to repair the sewer pipe bedding and then replace the old pipe with properly sloped new pipe. It is best to have Revive Pipes install a non-invasive, Cured in Place Pipe (CIPP) structural liner before water flowing out of leaking sewer pipe joints causes a large dip to occur and there is no other option left but to excavate to repair the sewer pipe.
COLLAPSED PIPE
Ground movement, overloaded concrete slabs and sewer water flowing outside of a sewer pipe and eroding the pipes bedding can all contribute to a sewer pipe collapse, causing a major sewer blockage and backup. Revive Pipes has specialized equipment and techniques that we can use to clear the debris from a sewer pipe collapse.
If the debris can be cleared, we can install a new Cured in Place Pipe (CIPP) structural liner to restore the structural integrity of your sewer drain system without the need for a highly disruptive excavation to fix the problem. While we can’t guarantee that we can fix every pipe collapse, we have been the hero to many people when we’ve provided a permanent structural repair to their collapsed sewer pipe.
VERTICAL STACKS & VENTS
Vertical, cast iron, sanitary sewer stacks that crack will very quickly create a nasty flood of raw sewage into your facility. Vertical, cast iron Rainwater or Storm water stacks that crack will likely do so when there is no rain running through the stack. When a rain occurs, a crack in a vertical, cast iron rainwater leader could cause a catastrophic deluge, potentially flooding several floors of your building and resulting in hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage.
Cast iron drain stacks can also experience pinhole leaks due to corrosion, which are a good warning sign that the system has reached the end of its life expectancy. Internal corrosion of a cast iron pipe can result in a spontaneous crack when pitting due to corrosion reaches a critical depth, which can be very shallow. Revive Pipes can install permanent Cured in Place Pipe (CIPP) structural liners in your vertical stacks before they spontaneously crack causing an extremely messy, disruptive and costly flood.
OFFSET PIPE JOINTS
Shifted sewer pipes under slab can create offsets at pipe joints where the downstream section of pipe is out of line with the upstream section of pipe. This offset can start to catch solids, toilet paper and other debris flowing through a wastewater pipe and cause a backup to your sewer system.
Revive Pipes can install a Cured in Place Pipe (CIPP) structural liner in your sewer pipe that will smooth out a small offset in the sewer pipe before a backup occurs in your building.
SEPARATED PIPE JOINTS
External forces on sewer pipes under concrete slabs can cause pipe joints to pull apart, leaving a gap between the two sections of pipe. Water from you sewer will flow out of the sewer pipe at the separated joint and further degrade the condition of your sewer pipes bedding. Revive Pipes can install structural liners to span separated pipe joints, permanently reinforcing your sewer pipes structural integrity and correcting the situation before it manifests in a sewer backup.
HOLES IN PIPE
Holes in pipes are often the result of an aggressive or careless drain cleaning operation using an auger, sewer tape or drain snake. Holes often occur at elbows as drain cleaning companies using a drain snake, sewer tape or auger ram the tools into the pipe to try to get the tool to go around the bend. This ramming action will often cause the tool to go right through the back side of the elbow the drain cleaning company is trying to get their tool around.
Revive Pipes can install a permanent Cured in Place Pipe (CIPP) structural point repairs over a single hole in your sewer pipe and restore the integrity of your sewer drain system.
Inside of commercial and residential buildings, traditional replacement of corroded and cracked cast iron pipes that are under floors and behind walls can have several drawbacks including:
- Cutting open and removal of drywall dispersing drywall dust into the air
Breaking open of concrete chases where pipes run again introducing dust into the air - Cutting of the corroded old cast iron with a grinder introducing a fire hazard from sparks
- Landfill waste when disposing of the old cast iron and demolition debris
- Removal of old drain pipe introduces raw sewage into the air
- Loud noise and disruption to tenants and occupants
- Significant costs to restore damaged walls and floors to their original condition
- Substantial amount of dust introduced into the air when sanding the new drywall
